What it does

  • Provides build, configuration and flashing tooling for Espressif SoCs through the idf.py command.
  • Lets you set a target chip, open a text-based configuration menu, and compile the app, bootloader and partition table.
  • Flashes the whole project or just the app, and can erase flash first.
  • Offers serial monitoring with crash decoding via the esp-idf-monitor tool.
  • Includes example projects in the examples directory to start from.
  • Older ESP8266 and ESP8285 chips are supported by a separate RTOS SDK instead.
