What it does

  • Provides CircuitPython-style modules such as digitalio, analogio, busio, pwmio, and keypad on host computers.
  • Offers a board module with breakout-specific pin names so example code can address pins by label.
  • Includes software and hardware I2C and SPI interfaces, plus UART support through busio.
  • On Raspberry Pi, digital GPIO uses the gpiod bindings and PWM uses separate Adafruit PWM backends.
  • Software PWM accepts 1 to 10000 Hz, with timing and jitter depending on Linux scheduling.
  • Installable from PyPI with pip, including into a virtual environment.
