What it does
- Other ROS 2 nodes read and write parameters on the server through the standard ROS 2 parameter API.
- Only parameters with the prefix "persistent" are saved to the file, which can sit on tmpfs, NFS, or disk.
- Persistent parameters are written to the file at shutdown, and optionally periodically or on each update.
- On startup the server loads parameters from the file, so changed values are restored after a restart.
- Services ~/reload_params and ~/save_params reload and save parameters at runtime.
- Parameters set via command-line arguments or launch files are not registered as persistent.
