What it does
- Defines a resource retriever service that RViz can call to fetch remote mesh files.
- Provides an in-memory service implementation of that resource retrieval.
- Includes a plugin that RViz uses to request resources through the service.
- The plugin waits for the service to answer each request, with a configurable timeout.
- The timeout parameter defaults to 3000 ms and can be changed at runtime.
- A larger timeout suits large resources on slow networks, but makes RViz freeze longer when a server stops answering.
