What it does
- Transfers data from publishers to subscribers through shared memory without a single copy.
- Keeps transmission latency constant regardless of payload size.
- Supports Linux, macOS, QNX, FreeBSD and Windows 10.
- Originated in the automotive industry for driver assistance and automated driving systems.
- Is used as a transport layer in frameworks such as ROS 2 via rmw_iceoryx and Eclipse eCAL.
- The classic version is in maintenance mode and will reach end of life after iceoryx2 v1.0; iceoryx2 is recommended for new projects.
