What it does

  • Encodes frames with FFmpeg libav encoders, defaulting to the CPU-based libx264 encoder.
  • Hardware-accelerated encoders such as h264_nvenc or h264_vaapi can be selected where available.
  • Encoding is configured through parameters under the foxglove block, including encoder, bit rate, and quantization limits.
  • The gop_size parameter must be set to 1 for Foxglove compatibility.
  • Output messages can be recorded in a rosbag for later processing.
  • The subscriber decoder is provided for testing only and is not supported.
